The various zones or maps in WoM are connected via portals. They are currently not in a linear form of progression. Oftentimes players are forced to spend an excessive amount of their gameplay simply traveling from one map to another. Here we will explain the basic progression through the various zones.
All players currently ( 4/24/15 ) begin their gameplay in the 1-4 zone. This is the introductory map to the game where players get a basic understanding of their class and general feeling of gameplay. Currently this area is a modifide version of the PVP battlegrounds. Both the alliance and fury begin in this area, but on opposite ends of the map.
Next is the 4-10 zone. The 4-10 zone begins to open up gameplay a little for players as there is a bit more to do here. This zone has a few introductory crafting profession trainers, it has the very first dungeon in the game and offers many beginning quests.
After the 4-10 zone players enter the desert. This is perhaps the first true open world zone of the game. The desert offers a few dungeons, many quest lines, and is an overall good place for leveling up to around level 16.
Although the northern wastes zone is not in a logical postion for new players to get to it is the same level as the desert. This is perhaps the most underused zone in the game. To get to it players must cross the tundra and by the time players actually get the opportunity to use it they are too high of level to get any benefit.
After the desert players may enter the jungle zone. This zone has a few dungeons, some quests, and offers portals leading to Sand city or the Tundra.
The Tundra is where players from about level 20 and up will spend about 90% of their overall gametime. This zone offers a plethora of dungeons. This is where most players level from 20-60. You will run the tundra over and over and over and over again. In WoM they like to re-use the same map again and again and in order for this happen they have switcher npcs. These npcs change your level of the map so that you can run it over but now are encountering higher level mobs. Fortunatley this zone has many dungeons to run as this breaks up the monotony of running the same map repeatedly.
